I met up here with a large group of friends recently. I don't live in this area of London, so it was neat to be able to venture out to Southwark for the evening. I love Mediterranean food...and this place did not disappoint, although I will say I have had better Turkish food, although for the deal we received, I really cannot complain.

Since we were a large group we arranged to have a set menu. The deal was that for so many people, the group could have three of each the appetizers on the menu and could choose our individual entrees from a list of about 7 or 8 choices. The list included various more well known options for Turkish food. The appetizers were quite good, and the entree wasn't bad either. I ordered one of the vegetarian dishes along with some white wine...and for the entire meal I only paid 20 pounds!! Not bad. I would be interested to try going to Ev with a smaller group of people to see if there is any difference in the service...and to get to try some other options on their menu.

The table was reserved for us when we arrived and we didn't have to wait long at all for the food to be served. The walk was quite nice down Isabella Road...it was a little tough to find, but if you have a good map you'll see it right next to the Southwark underground station. I bet Ev would be a nice place to go on a lazy warm afternoon, as the restaurant faces Isabella Street, which is calm and tranquil...almost making you forget you are in the middle of crazy London!! There are several... read more

I went here last week for the Birthday of a friend and I had no idea what to expect from this restaurant, plus the name Ev doesn't give you a clue...
The restaurant is divided in two, firstly the main room which is huge and can receive I'd say more than 150 people and a second room which has a bar. We arrived a little early and instead of waiting at the table we sat down at the bar in the bar room and had a drink in the meantime. This room is actually cozier than the dinning hall which is a little noisy and a little too big for any intimacy. Once everyone arrived we sat down at a table for 16 people and in no time we all had a drink served and many little plates full of delicious Turkish food. What we decided to take was a menu each and as each menu is composed of two dishes we shared the first one to taste each possible plat.
The main courses are very well served! I had a chicken kebab, it was delicious and I actually had trouble finishing the dish and that doesn't happen often for me! If you’re a vegetarian, no worries there are many different dishes and the vegy ones are marked with a big V.
We didn't have a desert as it was only the beginning of the night and we were running a little late on the schedule. The bill wasn't too expensive we each had to pay about 25 £, I though it was quite reasonable knowing that we each had two drinks and a two dish menu.
So I really would advise you to go to Ev restaurant especially with a big group of friends but if it's for a romantic din... read more
