People's opinions
The Cittie of Yorke is a pub which was inaugurated in 1430 and entirely reconstructed in 1695, since then it has only had minor changes.
I really like the pub and its decoration; the ceilings are very high, the coloured windows, the smell of old pub and the huge beer tunnels give the place a nice relaxed pub atmosphere. There is a mix between the clients some are locals who come here quite often and then you have quite a lot of tourists.
You can get a very generously served dish here for only 5 pounds! It isn’t a great cuisine and isn’t especially healthy but it fills you up! As for the drinks the Cittie of Yorke has some very fine beer but you’ll have to fight your way through the crowd to be able to order your beer.

I went to this pub one Friday evening around 5:30pm...and it was packed!!! If I hadn't known a few people already, it would have been very difficult to find a table. I met up with a friend that is a law student...and it felt like all of her classmates were there. I think it might be a popular place for law students to hang out after class on Fridays. The pub was decently sized and very much felt like a classic British pub...complete with a rustic and dark interior...and all of the beer you can drink! The white wine was reasonably priced, especially went you buy it by the bottle...to share with others of course! I am not sure how this pub is during the day or even later on in the evening, we probably left around 9pm and it was still lively, although it had died down a bit. The Cittie of Yorke is located near the Chancery Lane underground stop. I have not been back again, but I wouldn't mind stopping in for another visit at some point. Cheers!... read more
