After visiting there, you can talk a brisk walk through the area to the Towers exhibit, and also check out information on the Tower Bridge's architect, Horace Jones, and engineer, John Wolfe The Bridge was the only place that you were able to cross the river for a very long time and it is considered a tourist ritual to visit and cross the bridge, now there is a tunnel that crosses to the other side, that was erected and opened in 1994.
When visiting the Tower of London, please plan to pay a small exhibit fee, and grounds fee. This is a large tourist attraction that requires much upkeep, and when you visit you will see that every dime (our Pound) spent will be well worth the expense. You are not going to experience many other sites as this one.
