The museum of London is a great museum where the history of London is explained in details from the prehistoric times to today.
Don't miss the marble head of Mithras (in the Roman London section) which once stood in a Roman temple in the City as well as the section on London's burning and my favourite which is a dazzling 1400 year old Saxon brooch that was found in a grave in Covent Garden.
The entrance is free and you can get there by tube at the Barbican stop as well as the Moorgate stop. The Museum of London is open everyday from 10am to 6pm.
