I was next to Kings Cross and was looking for a cheap place to eat, the only options where McDonalds or a restaurant where I would have to sit down, order a meal and probably pay over 10 pounds. I just wanted to have a fast cheap lunch and not a cheap quality burger from McDonalds. I checked around and couldn't find anything until I stumbled upon a small cafe called Pompidou with a sign on the window saying warm soup and bread for 2.50pounds only for take away! Exactly what I needed, plus it was a sunny day so I wanted to take advantage of the good weather and eat outside.
There were 3 different soups, one was tomato soup, the one I took was vegetable and potato and I don't remember the last one. With the soup they give you a huge piece of bread, toasted and with butter spread on it. I went to eat the soup right in front of the British Library, it's a 5 minute walk from the Pompidou cafe, but it's the perfect place to have lunch in the sun. The soup was very good a little small for what it is but the huge piece of bread just fills you up! It sounds like a homeless meal; cheap, rapidly served soup and bread you can dip!
This Pompidou cafe is really a good place to know in Kings Cross if your a little out of cash and do want to have a meal.
