This Abbey, along with St. Paul's cathedral are the most famous churches in London. I have been to Westminster Abbey twice, and thoroughly enjoyed my visit each time. The Abbey is so rich in history that each time you go you are bound to notice something that you didn't notice before. My favorite part is seeing how Queen Mary Tudor is buried beneath her arch enemy Queen Elizabeth I!!!
I would highly recommend paying for the audio tour, which comes free with the purchase of an admission ticket. The audio guides come in many languages including: German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Portugese, Polish, Hungarian, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. THe English audio guide has the Jeremy Irons, the oscar winning actor, taking you through the Abbey! There are also guided tours, which I'm sure are interesting as well but I have never done one so I cannot say for sure.
This place takes a while to get through, so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time and wear good shoes! I believe they have benches scattered about so you can rest if you aren't good on your feet for too long.
Admission is 12 pounds for adults, and 9 pounds for children under 16 and Students. There are also special packages for families.
