The Waterfront bar is somewhere inside the king's College. I'm not a student there but I did go with a student and I guess that I probably wouldn't have made it if someone familiar with Kings College wasn’t there to show me the way... it's a real labyrinth in there!

Once I got there I was really impressed by the view got from the bar; on one side you can see the Thames River and you're actually pretty high so the view on the South bank is great.

The atmosphere is very student like, as I'm not a student any more I was happy to find that atmosphere again. As for the food; the curly fries were recommended to me so I tried them out... I don't remember exactly how much I paid but for two drinks and the curly fries but It wasn’t more than 5 pounds! The curly fries come in a really big white box with all the ketchup you want... we were two hungry people on those fries and we didn't even finish them! plus they're delicious! Some of the fries are curved up like a U and others are like cork screws, they're obviously both the same but some how I prefer the ones like cork screws!

There are three big tvs at the Waterfront bar if you don't like what’s on just ask the bar tender to change the channel and he'll do so. By the way the bar tenders are mostly students. It's a good place to watch football games, the atmosphere is great and quite surprisingly the place doesn't get that packed...

The Waterfront is the King's College Student Bar...and strangely is perhaps one of the better bars I've been to in London thus far! It is called the Waterfront because it is located several floors up from the ground and overlooks the Thames!! The view really is spectacular, so nice when considering that it is a student bar! Not only is the view excellent, but the prices are also really reasonable...I guess they keep in mind that they have to serve poor students! I've never paid for a drink that is over 3 pounds. The bar also serves hot food, including chips, curly fries, paninis, salads...and several other things, which are also a total bargain for London standards. The only downside to this bar is that I think you might have to be a King's student to get in, I believe they ask for your student ID when you enter through the Surrey Street entrance during the evening. You can get in other ways, but you'd probably also want a King's student to escort you...since it might be hard to find! One more downside might be if you are looking for a more mature sort of setting...not to say King's students aren't mature...but if you are looking for a romantic/quiet evening...this might not be the best place to go. However if you are on the hunt for a good and inexpensive time, I would highly recommend a visit to this bar, so start making friends with some students of King's College and pay it a visit. The nearest metro stops are Temple and Charing Cross. Surrey Street is perpendicular to the Strand and is near the Somerset... read more
