I guess this pub isn't bad... I discovered The Castle pub via a flyer that someone was giving out close to Farringdon Station. The flyer was about winning a case of wine (so a case consists of 6 bottles of white wine and 6 bottles of red wine! so it's not bad at all) if you go onto the Castle web site and sign up after your visit to the Castle pub. so that's what I did, fingers crossed. The survey was a little long though...
Music was good, nice atmosphere and the service was good too. I really didn't have to wait long before being served. I had one of those credit crunch menus for 5 pounds! now that was a bargain! I really had the impression that I was robbing the pub!
I thought the place could have been a little cleaner, the table I was on wasn't very clean but there were some empty pints there so maybe the table hadn't been cleaned after the last customers and they probably weren’t the cleanest customers you can get!

We went to the Castle to have lunch on a week day and it was pretty full of business men but we managed to find a place to sit down and have lunch. There wasn't many different choices on the menu we had a burger with cheddar cheese, bacon and mushroom and a sandwich menu with a free pint for 5 pounds. I ended up paying just over 10 pounds for a diet coke and the burger, I thought it was a little excessive for what it is. Also, I'm not a hygiene maniac but the tables weren't very clean I think a costumer before us spilt his drink and the table hadn't been washed properly.
However the waitress of the Castle was really adorable my dad only asked for a small beer when a pint came with the menu and later on he asked for another small beer and she remembered that my dad chose a menu and gave him a refill without asking us to pay another one.
The atmosphere here at lunch time was calm even if it was full.
The Castle is just in front of the exit of the Farringdon tube station you can't miss it. I think it is a good meeting place because sometimes meeting in front of the tube stop can be a fuss and especially if it is raining.
