The Tate modern is directly across from St. Paul’s Cathedral which is also right on the River Thames. This again, is one of the most rare places you will be able to visit in London, that is free. A place that you will want to come back to again and again, be sure that you don’t miss anything, each time there will be something you didn’t see the first, time, or perhaps something you see a little differently.
You'll often find enormous 'installations' in the Turbine Hall on the ground floor, this is something that would be well planned for when you are wanting to go see the Tate Bridge, and The Eye of London, as you will be able to take a Tate boat over the river to see the other places mentioned.
The Tate modern is going to be one of those places, that would be wonderful for a school trip that has gone overseas, or perhaps even one of those places you take your family for a nice Sunday afternoon family trip. Either way, there is much to be seen, and rest assured you, and your children will not be disappointed. Another place you will want to take your camera along with you.
