The Museum of London is an enormous museum that tells the story of London from pre-historic times through reconstructed interiors and street scenes, alongside displays of original artifacts found during the museum's archaeological digs to present. The Museum of London is known as a non-departmental public body which is situated on or adjacent to the London Wall and close to St. Paul's cathedral so one can do some sightseeing around the area. It is the most accessible museum which is urban in nature on the earth that also occasionally holds numerous expositions on top of its enduring exhibits other galleries highlighting on transport, kids and even the macabre in other galleries. The Museum which was opened in 1976 as part of the Barbican Estate is committed to making its collections accessible to all who wish to learn from them. It is opened everyday from 10am to 6pm without charging any entrance fee. For enriching the experience of visiting the galleries due to be completed in 2010 a major redevelopment is being taken by the museum from where fragments of the Roman London Wall can be seen. Different kinds of materials from London which are archaeologically significant are contained in the Museum of London. Besides this reservations and collections it also folds the London Archaeological Archive of London that is established for finding and keeping records from over 25 years of collections from various places in the world.

For those of you who are interested in history, and seeing what young men and women have done before you, to see what a beautiful land London truly is, and educate yourself all at the same time then you need to go and check out the Museum on London while you are there.
For the history buff, or just their companion you will not be bored, this is not going to be a quick brisk walk through museum visit, this is something you are going want to block off a good afternoon for.
These are the times and places when you will literally be stepping into the history books that you read in grade school, visiting the places that you took tests on and read about only in romance novels. You will be within arm’s reach of hundreds of different pieces of art, and pieces straight from history. Back in the day when everyone rode the double stacked busses, to the times when you wore elegant gowns and jewelry while walking the streets of London.
If you are backpacking you way through, or here for a show, take your children, spouse or old college roommate and spend a day browsing through history.

The museum of London is a great museum where the history of London is explained in details from the prehistoric times to today.
Don't miss the marble head of Mithras (in the Roman London section) which once stood in a Roman temple in the City as well as the section on London's burning and my favourite which is a dazzling 1400 year old Saxon brooch that was found in a grave in Covent Garden.
The entrance is free and you can get there by tube at the Barbican stop as well as the Moorgate stop. The Museum of London is open everyday from 10am to 6pm.
