If you are one who thrives on the beauty and mystery of historical architecture, the Spencer house will be at the op of your list when traveling to London. When the building was constructed in 1766 for the first Earl Spencer; whose intention was to offer it as a token of his love, for Georgiana Poyntz. The same woman he had married a year previously in complete secrecy. There has not been a single family living in this home since 1927, when at that time it became a museum for several years, recently it had been moderately restored, and there have been different rooms dedicated to different times in the life of the Spencer house. Truly a place to admire, take in all the furniture, some of which belongs to the Queen herself. Built of brick the house still stands and now offers tourists to come and visit, although this is something for the adult commentary crowds, there is no admission for children under the age of nine, this is truly a treasure to be kept as it is and that is why the strict rules. If you are looking for a full tour you will be disappointed, as they are only offering 5-6 rooms to be viewed currently.
