Thai Square On the Strand is one of many "Thai Square" restaurants located in the London area. I randomly went to meet up with a friend pretty late on a Friday evening. We did not have a reservation and were able to get in without a problem, although it was quite late (past 10pm), so a reservation might be necessary if you go a bit earlier on a Friday night. The food was definitely good, but not outstanding. I felt that the portions were a little small compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to. I also recall the menu m read more
The Waterfront is the King's College Student Bar...and strangely is perhaps one of the better bars I've been to in London thus far! It is called the Waterfront because it is located several floors up from the ground and overlooks the Thames!! The view really is spectacular, so nice when considering that it is a student bar! Not only is the view excellent, but the prices are also really reasonable...I guess they keep in mind that they have to serve poor students! I've never paid for a drink that is over 3 pounds. The bar also read more
I went to this pub one Friday evening around 5:30pm...and it was packed!!! If I hadn't known a few people already, it would have been very difficult to find a table. I met up with a friend that is a law student...and it felt like all of her classmates were there. I think it might be a popular place for law students to hang out after class on Fridays. The pub was decently sized and very much felt like a classic British pub...complete with a rustic and dark interior...and all of the beer you can drink! The white wine was reaso read more
I met up here with a large group of friends recently. I don't live in this area of London, so it was neat to be able to venture out to Southwark for the evening. I love Mediterranean food...and this place did not disappoint, although I will say I have had better Turkish food, although for the deal we received, I really cannot complain.
Since we were a large group we arranged to have a set menu. The deal was that for so many people, the group could have three of each the appetizers on the menu and could choose our individ read more
This place is wonderful! I was spending an exorbitant amount of time at the British Library, and was wanting to find a place that could break up the monotony of an otherwise book filled boring day. I was resorting to going to a regular Pret a Manger for a little break..but sometimes you just get tired of the regular food chains.
Albertini was the answer to my prayers!!! It is a little cafe located just down the road from the British Library. You have the option of getting something quick to take with you on the go, or yo read more
The British Library lives up to its clout. I am an American, so coming here reminds me a lot of visiting the Library of Congress. The building is beautiful!!!
The books at this library are staunchly protected...in order to go inside to the reading rooms, you must register in the Reading Registration Office. You need to make sure you bring a proof of address, and legitimate form of ID. It won't take too long for the entire process, 25 minutes at the most. At the end, you will get an ID with your photo that you will have to read more
This place is really neat. I know several people that don't like it, but it is because they aren't really into the alternative scene at all. I find it quite entertaining, so I do enjoy this market from time to time.
This is the place that you can find anything that could be more difficult to find in regular stores, and it will most likely be sold at a much cheaper price. I went here one day to shop for a new nose screw. There are so many various tattoo/body piercing shops in this part of London that you are guaranteed to read more
This place is enormous!!! I bet you could spend two weeks here and still not see everything the museum has to offer. The upside though is that admission is free, so you can come back as many times as you like.
The last time I visited the British Museum, I went to see the Anchient Egyptian Gallery. The gallery is on the upper floor of the Museum next to the galleries of Ancient Egyptian funerary archaeology (the ‘mummy rooms’) which are the most popular galleries in the museum.

Asda reminds me of being in the USA. That is what they call Walmart in the UK! This place is the cheapest place I have seen thus far in London for any sort of home necessity...food, clothes, home appliances, house ware, bath products...you name it Asda has it and at about 1/3 of the price that you would pay else where!!
When I moved to London I needed the typical stuff, shampoo, soap, trash bins, hangers, a broom, mop, hair pins...and I needed to stock my pantry...I was able to do all of it at Asda.
I don't go here al read more
This is the place where Hugh Grant watches Julia Roberts on screen in the film Notting Hill!
The theatre is very quaint and has a nice antique sort of charm about it. It really makes you feel like you've taken a walk back in time...the seats are a little bit cramped, especially if you have long legs, so you might want to arrive a little early if you think this might bother you...that way you can select an aisle seat, so you can get up and stretch every once in a while. The bathrooms are also located waaay at the bottom o read more
